Terrazzo is generally made with one of two binders: epoxy or cementitious. Epoxy terrazzo is less porous and typically needs a lighter, compatible penetrating sealer, while cementitious terrazzo is more porous and often requires a more absorbent, breathable formulation to protect it properly without trapping moisture.
